Do you need a new mattress?

Mattress, Bed, Pillow, Sleep, Relax

Our beds are a much larger and indispensable part of our daily lives, but how often to we really take note of our beds (besides of course when we’re falling into them)? Not often enough, really.

What does it matter, you may be thinking about. Well, firstly consider that all of us need sufficient and restful sleep to work, i.e. perform our daily tasks, meet responsibilities like work, chores, parenting etc.. Secondly – inadequate sleep decreases productivity; increases irritability and may eventually cause several health problems (such as diabetes; weight management issues; high blood pressure and so on). Thirdly – our beds (old or unsuitable mattresses) could be the major cause that we do not get enough’good’ sleep.

Here are a few things you need to Understand about ageing mattresses which have probably seen their last great days:

They’re store homes and breeding grounds for allergens

Older mattresses are usually discoloured, dusting and often a bit smelly (frequently we have just gotten use to the particular scent). These changes are due to a few slightly disturbing things. The discolouration and dustiness is typically because of flakes of dead skin, microscopic dirt from our bodies, sweat, in addition to mites. These and other compounds are broken down, which releases foul fumes from within our removal of raccoons .

These factors all contribute to poor sleep quality due to inhalation of those microscopic allergens that set off allergic reactions – like coughing or wheezing; sneezing or stuffy sinuses etc..

Your body’s mattress requirements change, but mattresses don’t

Mattresses eventually lose their ability to correctly encourage y body, the more you sleep on it. Also – age, body weight changes and pregnancy have an impact on this – as your body may need a unique mattress that will be gentle enough on your own body, whilst still being firm. Inadequate mattresses, that don’t support our own bodies sufficiently can lead to sleep distress, loss of sleep and waking up with aches and pains daily. It is therefore important to make certain that your mattress is the right mattress for your body’s needs – in terms of the aforementioned, as well as your body type and preferred sleeping position.

Beds and sleep aren’t just about mattresses

A frequently overlooked information about getting a terrific night’s sleep is what is on our beds. Pillows. All of us have a favourite pillow and it is tough to imagine that it could be leading to restless nights and groggy mornings. The truth is – if your pillow isn’t supporting your head and neck by accommodating a straighter posture – it is not doing you much good when trying to sleep. Buying quality pillows that fit your sleeping position – be it in your back, side or stomach – is an investment in your sleeping and basically in everything that’s affected by it. There’s a variety of pillows that are specially designed to give comfort and support during the night – to help ensure your sleep is not laid to waste.
